Duane Thomas Misunderstood Dallas Cowboy Star?

Many different things have been said about Duane Thomas and his career as a Dallas Cowboy. Thomas was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 1970 NFL Draft. In 1970, he led Dallas and finished eighth in the NFL in rushing with 803 yards on 151 carries and five touchdowns. Thomas led the league in touchdowns in 1971 with eleven rushing touchdowns and thirteen overall. He also led Dallas in rushing with 793 yards on 175 carries. Duane Thomas star was bright and he wanted more and got into a contract dispute with the Cowboys which led to a trade in 1971 to the New England Patriots. He did not last there very long before the Patriots sent him back to the Dallas Cowboys.

Upon his return Duane Thomas refused to speak with any of the Cowboys players, coaches or management for the entire season. Even with this he did help the Cowboys to the their first Super Bowl win in Super Bowl VI. It was reported that Thomas was going to be named MVP, but since he was not talking to the media the award was given to Roger Staubach instead. Thomas was a moody guy, but the bottom line he ran the ball with the best of them. It's a shame his career did not last longer as a Dallas Cowboys. In his two years in Dallas he made an impact like very few have.
