Cowboys Dominate Eagles Again!
It looks like this season the Dallas Cowboys have the Philadelphia Eagles number this season. Last night the Dallas Cowboys used a swarming defense to keep Philadelphia off balance on way to a easy 34-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Tony Romo finished 23 of 35 for 244 yards with two touchdowns and no turnovers. He got deep into Philadelphia territory on nine of his first 10 drives, hitting eight receivers. His touchdowns went to rookie John Phillips and Miles Austin, and he even worked beleaguered Roy Williams back into the mix, hitting him five times for 59 yards.
For the Eagles Donovan McNabb wound up 19 of 37 for 230 yards, with a touchdown and an interception. Michael Vick threw a 76 yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to keep the game close for awhile. Two many mistakes doomed the Eagles and they really had no answers for the Cowboys defense. For Philadelphia it was another replay of what happened last week. The Eagles and Andy Reid just had no answers for the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys need to build off this win. It looks like Marion Barber was the odd man out last night. I did not really see him play much at all. It did not look like he was injured so this will be something we will need to watch next week.

Marion Barber Blitz
To get Dallas Cowboy fans ready for the game tonight here is a video of Marion Barber and some of his highlights. He will need to play big tonight if the Cowboys want to get a big win.
Dallas-Philadelphia Preview Part 3
Well we have arrived at game day and time for my prediction. This is one of the hardest games to predict for many reasons. Beating a team three times in a season is tough especially someone in your own division. The Cowboys need to protect Romo and limit their turnovers. This game should be close and could be one of the best of the season.
The Cowboys seem to play well at home and I like the Cowboys to win by a score of 24-17. Now with all that said it would not shock me to see the Eagles pull an upset as this is how close this game is. The team with the fewest mistakes will win this game. I am hoping the Cowboys do as a playoff win would be so big for a Cowboy team that has none nothing in the playoffs lately.

Dallas-Philadelphia Preview Part 2
Here is the second part in our Dallas vs Philadelphia preview. The Dallas Cowboys defense has thrown two straight shutouts and do not expect them to make it three in a row. Containing the Philadelphia Eagles offense two weeks in a row is tough task to ask them. One of the first orders of business will be to control DeSean Jackson not stop him. Shutting him out two weeks in a row is very hard to do. Another thing the Dallas Cowboys must do is put pressure on Donovan McNabb. I would prefer that they kept him in the pocket. It seems when you let Donovan move around in the pocket he can become more of a problem.
Stopping any type of running game is something the Dallas Cowboys defense will also want to do. By doing this and making the Eagles one dimensional will give the Cowboys defense a much better chance for success. Another important key will be to limit the amount of big plays that the Eagles get. I have noticed that when the Eagles get big plays it seems to build their confidence. Once the Eagles build their confidence they are very tough to stop. Hopefully the Dallas defense will turn in another great performance. Tomorrow I will make my prediction of the game.

Dallas vs Philadelphia Week 9
I thought it would be great to see some of the highlights of week 9 so I posted them before. Here is a chance to check them out before Round three of Eagles vs Cowboys happen Saturday night.
Dallas-Philadelphia Preview Part 1
I figured I would break the Dallas-Philadelphia Preview into two parts maybe three who knows. This is a big game especially for Cowboy fans who want to see some success in the playoffs and not failure. Lets get right to the preview. The first part we will talk about the Dallas Cowboys offense vs the Philadelphia defense.
Last week the Dallas Cowboys were able to protect Tony Romo real well and that was one of the main reasons for the Cowboys success in the game. That must continue this week as well. I look for the Eagles though to change up their blitz scheme so the Cowboys must be prepared for this. One way to slow down the blitzes is to run some draws and screen passes. Getting Felix Jones out on screens would be something I hope the Cowboys would do. Jones has great speed and may be able to break some long runs on Philadelphia defense if they blitz a lot.
Roy Williams is a guy the Cowboys need to have a big game. Most likely the Eagles will try to take away Miles Austin and Jason Witten so Williams should have one on one coverage. He needs to beat this coverage and come up with some big plays for the Cowboys. Last, but not least the Cowboys need to use Marion Barber much better and pound him when the third and fourth quarter arrives. Running the ball will keep the blitzes down and give Romo a better chance of success. The Cowboys offense can be the Cowboys defense best friend. By keeping long drives going the Eagles offense cannot be on the field.

Will Felix Jones Or Marion Barber Ever Be A No.1 Back?
One of the things that through the years the Dallas Cowboys have always had is a number one running back. Lately though that has not been the case. Marion Barber and Felix Jones both have shared time depending on who had the hot hand. Is it about time we see if either is a No.1 back for the Cowboys. I like both of them, but both have had injuries so maybe neither is a true No.1 running back.
I think it is time the Cowboys figure out what they are going to do in the off-season. Using both backs seem to work okay right now, but how long will Barber and Jones like the prospect. Platooning running backs is one reason Julian Jones left the Cowboys. Unless the Cowboys decide which one is the true No.1 running back in the offense both may decide to leave for greener pastures where they get to be a No.1 back.
Felix Jones has the speed and Marion Barber is more of a punishing runner so the choice is very hard. I guess in time we will see what the Cowboys plans are. I just wish they would decide what they want to do. Many people think Barber is the No.1, but at times the way they use him it makes me wonder as well.

Tony Romo Rescued Cowboys?
I have not been the biggest fan of Tony Romo, but I do owe him some props as he has played very well in the last few weeks. He has been named NFC offensive player of the month for December. He also won the award in November 2006 and September 2007. I like Romo do not get me wrong, but many times he just makes mistakes that make you shake your head.
Lately though Romo has been playing much better and has taken care of the football as well. He seems to be more of a team leader and in December he has pretty much been perfect. Last week he played very well and this is a big game coming up for him. He has a chance to put away all the past failures with a good game and a Dallas Cowboy victory. I will be watching to see if he can come through or will the old Tony Romo surface. I guess we will find out real soon.

Can Dallas Make It Three Straight Shutouts?
The Dallas Cowboys defense has played excellent the last two weeks posting back to back shutouts. In their existence they have never gotten three shutouts in a row. Well Cowboy fans I do not like to be the bearer of bad news, but it won't be three in a row. Yes the Dallas Cowboys kept the Eagles off the scoreboard last week, but don't look for that to happen this week.
I look for Philadelphia to get on the scoreboard this week. Even if they have to use some trick plays they will not get shutout and look as bad as they did last week. You can count on that. The key for the Cowboys is not to give up big plays. Make Donovan McNabb and the Eagles march down the field by giving them nothing big When the Eagles get big plays they are very hard to beat. So Cowboy fans a shutout would be nice, but not this weekend.

Then And Now: Timmy Newsome
We are starting a new series on Dallas Cowboys Blogging Network. It is looking back at former players and the contribution they made and what they are doing right now. Many Cowboy fans have asked about former players and I thought this would be a good way to keep updated on some Cowboy players from the past. Today we will look at Timmy Newsome.
Timmy Newsome was drafted in the sixth round by the Dallas Cowboys in 1980. Newsome played college football at Winston-Salem State University, where he is the second-leading rusher in school history with 3,843 yards. As a Dallas Cowboy Newsome was switched from tailback to full back as the Cowboys had Tony Dorsett and Herschel Walker playing that position. Newsome was a very good fullback and did many different things for the Cowboys. From blocking to running and pass catching Newsome did it all for the Cowboys in his nine seasons.
Newsome rushed for 1,226 yards with 19 rushing touchdowns. He also had 212 catches for 1,966 yards and 11 receiving touchdowns. In 1990 he was selected to the Dallas Cowboys all-decade team by the Dallas Cowboys Weekly Newspaper. All in all for a sixth round pick Timmy Newsome was a very good player and contributed to the Dallas Cowboys success during his time on the team. Below is a highlight of his. I hope you enjoy it.

Should Wade Phillips Stay Or Go?
Unless the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl the question of Wade Phillips staying on as coach is going to come up. There are two train of thoughts here and let us look at them. The first one is you do not want to make a change because Phillips has been a good coach and got the Cowboys into the playoffs. Getting rid of him would not make sense right now since the Cowboys are winning.
The other train of thought is it's time for Wade Phillips to go. He has had his chances to win a Super Bowl and was not able to do if he does not do it this year. Phillips has struggled at times and a fresh face maybe what the Dallas Cowboys need right now to get them where they want to be.
My perceptions on the situation is that Phillips needs to go for a few reasons. One in my opinion he really is not much of a coach it seems. He follows what Jerry Jones wants and is just a puppet for him. Of course most of the coaches Jerry Jones hire is that way. The only ones that really weren't won Super Bowls. Secondly, it does not seem like Phillips is the coach that will get after the players like he needs to. For a team to be successful year in and year out you need a head coach who is a leader and will get on guys when needed. I just don't see that from Phillips.
In the end will Phillips stay or go? My guess is he will stay as Jerry Jones can control him and he likes that. Firing Phillips would not give Jones that and so look for Phillips to stay on at least another year good or bad.

Tony Dorsett Greatest Cowboy Running Back Ever
It seems that many Cowboy fans have their idea of who has been the greatest running back in Dallas Cowboys history. Older people point to guys such as Walt Garrison while some love Tony Dorsett. Emmitt Smith is always in the conversation and if you ask my son the name Marion Barber will pop up. Now Emmitt Smith was great, but if there was one guy I would want to run the ball it would be Tony Dorsett. He could break a long run at anytime and the record the Cowboys had when he rushed for over 100 yards was remarkable.
Eagles DeSean Jackson Talking Trash?
You knew that this was bound to happen when the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles get together trash talking had to start. It seems DeSean Jackson had some comments on his Twitter page about the Dallas Cowboys and how the outcome would be different this weekend. Jackson had a horrible game last Sunday so you know he must have been very frustrated. This game is going to be one that will have many different scenarios that could determine the outcome.
First of all DeSean Jackson will probably not play as bad as he did last week. He is the one guy the Dallas Cowboys will need to keep in check. When he gets things going it is real tough to control him. The easiest way to keep him off the field is to have long sustained drives and control the clock. If they can do this they will be in a better position to win. Putting a lot of pressure on Donovan McNabb is also something that they must do as well. If the Cowboys give McNabb time in the pocket it will be a very long game for their defense.

What To Do With Roy Williams

Roy Williams was suppose to be the next great Dallas Cowboys receiver, but that has not happened. Jerry Jones traded away a lot to get Roy Williams and not it looks like it could very well be the worse trade in Dallas Cowboys history. Williams just does not seem to be on the same page as the offense. Miles Austin has become the guy Tony Romo trusts and not Roy Williams. Do we give Roy Williams one more year or cut our losses right now.
My guess is Jerry Jones will give Roy Williams one more year to try and figure this whole thing out. If he does not than I think Jones will get rid of Williams who was suppose to be the guy that replaced Terrell Owens. I wrote many moons ago Roy Williams was not the answer and still waiting for him to prove me wrong. He still has time to that, but the clock is ticking.
How Bout Them Cowboys Commercial
Football commercials have always been great and this is one of my favorite about the Dallas Cowboys. I know there are many Dallas Cowboy fans who just love commercials about the beloved Dallas Cowboys. This is one of my favorites and I am sure many fans remember this one real well.

It Comes Down To One Game Season For Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys season basically comes down to a one game season. Yes, the Dallas Cowboys are in the playoffs, but winning the division is very important. You want to play at least one home game and do not want to be a wild card team if you do not have to. The second thing the Dallas Cowboys also need to do is pay back the Eagles for what happen last season. The Cowboys were embarrassed and have a chance to do something about it. Will they though that is the million dollar question.
I will be honest Cowboy fans this game really worries me a lot. If the Cowboys do not come out focused and ready to play they could get beat again. It seems when you expect the Cowboys to play well they do not and this is what I am worried about. I am not so worried about a payback as much as having a letdown after a good performance against the Redskins. It seems recently the Eagles have the Cowboys number. Hopefully the Cowboys will give a good performance for a change as a division title should would be nice.

2010 Is Here, But A Reflection Of The Past
I want to wish all the Dallas Cowboys football fans a Happy News Years and hope this year is your best ever. Now as far as today's post I thought I would reflect back with a video to times that were much happier for Cowboys fans and we will be there once again. It is a great video of Jimmie Johnson and the Cowboys winning an NFC Championship.
