What's Next For the Cowboys After Cutting T.O, Williams

There have been many reports surfacing why T.O and safety Roy Williams were let go, but it really does not matter as you really do not know how much truth is in those reports. The Dallas Cowboys have cut ties with both of them so let us look at what this means for the Dallas Cowboys. First losing T.O. was big as now teams do not have to worry so much about double covering T.O. like they use too. This means it will be easier to defense the Cowboys and make it harder for the Cowboys to score points. The Cowboys receivers had a total of 29 touchdowns receiving and Owens had 10 of those. Several other players caught four, but no one was close to T.O. Owens was the only 1,000 yard receiver on the team as well, but Jason Witten was close, but took him 12 more catches to get that close.

For all his faults T.O. is a game breaker that makes people around him better. Roy Williams is a good player, but no T.O. In fact in five years in the league Roy Williams has only been over 1,000 yards once in his career and has yet to have a year with ten touchdowns or more. As you can see it is a big drop off from T.O. to Roy Williams, but something that Cowboy fans better get use too.

Defensively losing safety Roy Williams is another guy the Dallas Cowboys are going to miss. You do not replace a guy like this, but if he wanted out this tells you a lot about how bad the Cowboys are right now as a team. There is more going on inside the locker room than what people maybe telling everyone. Now that T.O. is gone many people have mentioned Tony Romo as a leader on the team which I just do not see. Leaders do not take a week off to go vacationing when he has a game coming up.

On the sidelines when T.O. was yelling at Romo he never stood up and said anything back. Romo had chances to be the go to guy and a guy who was a leader, but he choose to take the high road and that is a shame. T.O. was one of the reasons that Romo got a big fat contract and in my opinion so far he has not lived up to the money he is getting paid. I guess he will have his chance this season to show people he can lead the Cowboys by himself.

For me I hope cutting T.O. and safety Roy Williams work out for the Cowboys, but I do not really know. In the coming months I guess we will see what Jerry Jones and his coaches have up their sleeves and defensively our secondary is pretty weak. No Henry, Pacman Jones, or Roy Williams. Looks like it maybe a long season for Dallas Cowboy fans.

Safety Roy Williams Given His Wish Cut By Cowboys

It seems Jerry Jones is cleaning house first it was T.O. now safety Roy Williams got his pink slip. Roy Williams was asked to me let go which should tell you something about how dysfunctional the Dallas Cowboys are right now. Roy Williams was not the best cover man that is for sure, but a good tackler and excellent against the run and probably would do well in a cover 2 type of defense. Cutting Roy Williams will save the Cowboys 2 million off the cap, but is it really worth it.

Now the Dallas Cowboys lost their best wide receiver they have and now probably the best secondary person who was left on the team. When Roy Williams asked to be released you knew something was just not right in Dallas. He was an All-Pro and always seem to be around the ball. The Cowboys have some big shoes to fill without much cap space to do it in. Some of these decisions make no sense, but we will see how it works out for the Cowboys and Jerry Jones.

Cowboys Cut Terrell Owens

Well the one thing that many Cowboy fans probably will disagree on today and that is was cutting Terrell Owens the best thing to do. Most people will say it was a good move, but in my opinion a very stupid move for a number of different reasons. First the Dallas Cowboys will take a 9 million dollar hit on the salary cap by releasing him. if I am going to take that kind of a hit you might as well put a uniform on him and let him play the year for you. Why take a 9 million dollar hit and get nothing for him. Secondly the Dallas Cowboys are relying on Roy Williams to be a number one receiver in Dallas. He was never the guy in Detroit or they would have never shopped him around. If Williams was such a hot commodity he would have been out of Detroit a long time ago.

Third I will admit that T.O. can be a cancer in the locker room, but the bottom line is he shows up to play on Sunday. Many players on the Dallas Cowboys do not. Some take vacations during weeks off when they should be concentrating on football. In my opinion this is a very big mistake, but we will see how it all works out for the Dallas Cowboys in the end. I think they will miss T.O. more then they realize.

Cowboys Sign Keith Brooking Lose Chris Canty

The Dallas Cowboys have signed Keith Brooking who became a free agent when he could not come to terms with the Atlanta Falcons. Brooking signed a three year deal and will bring a voice to the locker room which is what the Dallas Cowboys need right now. Brooking is a good player and should fit in well for the Cowboys, but losing Chris Canty to the Giants really hurt.

Ray Lewis was the one that the Dallas Cowboys should have went after. I know cap wise it was virtually impossible, but the Cowboys should have at least try and get room under the cap so they could get him. Ray Lewis is the kind of player that would make everyone accountable for what they need to do. This includes offense and defense side of the ball. Maybe Brooking will be able to do that, but I doubt it.

Jon Kitna for Anthony Henry Fair Trade?

Well sometimes I must admit I scratch my head and wonder what the Dallas Cowboys and especially Jerry Jones is thinking when her makes trades. I mean he brings in Roy Williams and gives away a first round pick which really did not make any sense then this trade. The Cowboys get a backup quarterback in Jon Kitna for Anthony Henry. Now do not get me wrong I have nothing against Jon Kitna and he will make a good backup quarterback compared to what we have had recently, but to give Anthony Henry away for him just makes no sense.

I am not saying Anthony Henry was the best cornerback in the world, but he is a much better cover guy then anyone else on the team including Roy Williams. For all his faults Pacman Jones was the best cover guy we had and since he is gone Henry was next. I guess Jerry Jones has some master plan at least I hope. Backup quarterbacks like Jon Kitna are all over and this is why trading a good player away really makes no sense to me.
