Cowboys Need To Sign Jeff Garcia

It seems that Jeff Garcia will not be resigned by the Tampa bay Buccaneers which means he will be a free agent and can sign with anyone. The Dallas Cowboys need a capable backup to Tony Romo and Garcia would be a very good choice. You never know when your starting quarterback could get hurt and the Cowboys would have a guy that has proven he can win games and that is what you need in a backup quarterback.

These days it is tough to find backup quarterbacks that are any good and can step in when you need them to and get the job done, but Jeff Garcia is one of those. If the Cowboys are smart they will sign him as soon as possible. I am sure there will be several teams interested in Garcia's services so hopefully the Cowboys will step up to the plate and be one of the players in trying to sign him.

T.O A Raider or A Cowboy This Season

Many people have written about maybe Terrell Owens being traded to the Oakland Raiders real soon. According to various sources the Cowboys and raiders are into talks about this. Now personally I hope this does not happen as this will not really help the Dallas Cowboys much. By trading T.O. this means you are counting on Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton to get the job done for you on offense and for me that is a very scary thought. Roy Williams is a good player, but has not proven to be the guy that can do the job. Trust me if he was a great player more teams would have traded for him when he played for Detroit.

Williams has got a reputation as not a hard worker and does not practice well. This reputation goes all the way back to his days at the University of Texas as well. Williams has a lot of talent, but has not been the receiver that people thought he could be. Taking a chance by trading T.O. and make Williams the main guy is just too risky if you ask me right now.

Dallas Cowboys News And Notes

Flozell Adams of the Dallas Cowboys did not look good at all in the Pro Bowl and maybe he should have took it off as he did not look like the player were use too. Tony Romo has been making the rounds of different radio shows and really has not come out and said he wants Terrell Owens back which leads many people to think that T.O. could be on his way out. I personally do not believe that as Jerry Jones likes T.O. and he wants him around or he would have gotten rid of him already.

Dallas Cowboy players would be better off if they would just lay low and quit do interviews with radio stations and television stations. Everything they say is dissected and one wrong word can be turned around on them. They need to work on getting better and working towards a better season this coming year and doing all this press work is really not going to help them much.

Jason Witten Speaks At Pro Bowl

Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys spoke with one of the sideline reporters and basically said he wants to keep the team the way it is. I guess I should repeat that for the media he wants to keep the team intact. This means that he still wants T.O. on the team. The media has made a lot out of the friction with him and T.O and he seemed to dispel those rumors that have been circulating through various media outlets.

Witten also said the Cowboys need to finish games better especially towards the end of the season better as well. I totally agree with that the Dallas Cowboys need to learn how to finish better. I think that if the Cowboys all get on the same page and do not let outside things influence them they should be fine. Romo, T.O. and Witten will work through whatever problems they have because they want to win a championship. I guess we will see how this all works out for Witten and the Cowboys.

Three Things The Cowboys Must Do Now

Everyone is searching for answers on how to fix the Dallas Cowboys and getting them going in the right direction. I have three things they must do right away or it will be another disappointment for Cowboy fans once again.

The first thing is take care of the Terrell Owens issues. Jerry Jones needs to decide what to do with T.O. Either her keeps him and backs his star player or he is got to cut ties as soon as possible. The longer this soap opera is drug out the worse it will be for everyone involved.

The number two thing that needs to be done is bring in a defensive coordinator that knows what they are doing. The Dallas Cowboys especially on defense had to many lapses and big plays given up. They need a no nonsense guy that will take over the defense and get them playing football like they are suppose too.

Third you must have accountability and this includes players, coaches and even front office people. Unless everyone is on the same page the same results could follow. Players need to keep their mouths shut and keep everything in house if their is a problem. Airing it in the public just makes things worse. Taking care of it behind close doors is best.

Until the Dallas Cowboys address some of these issues I am afraid it could be another dreadful ending to a promising football season. I guess we will see real soon what Jerry Jones is going to do if anything.

Tony Romo Needs To Get His Act Together

Now I love Tony Romo and sometimes his erratic play I question, but the one thing he needs to do is get his act together especially off the field. It seems many times off the field distractions maybe effecting how he plays. Now I know he has this off and on again relationship with Jessica Simpson, but when you are the starting Dallas Cowboys quarterback that is your first job. There have been a long line of quarterbacks that had to do the same thing including Roger Staubach, Danny White, Troy Aikman and now Tony Romo needs to step up.

Romo got a big fat contract so now it is time to step up to the plate which means have your head 100 percent into football. Now if you and T.O. are having problems than you need also work those out. The quarterback is the team leader and is in the public eye so you will need to make sacrifices. It is not always what you may want to do, but it comes with the job. Romo can be a great quarterback, but not until he takes his job more seriously. He has been given a very special job that few have been very successful at so it is time for him to step up and do what is right and that means give 100 percent to football and not trips to exotic places during the season either.

Time To Stop The Dump T.O. Talk

It seems no matter what we do everyone is talking about Terrell Owens and dumping him. From former top stars in the NFL to even players and people in the organization. Now Terrell Owens is not my favorite player and some things he does I really do not care for, but the bottom line is he wants to win. Sure he can be a cancer if you let him and this is where the coach needs to step up. Even under Bill Parcells who Terrell Owens had a cold relationship he still was a 1000 yard receiver. You just do not pull out 1000 yard receivers out of the air. Many times a player is a cancer because coaches and the organization let him do it.

The problem the Dallas Cowboys have is Roy Williams throughout his college and pro career has been considered lazy and does not practice very well. If they get rid of T.O. then they are looking at an unproved Roy Williams as their go to wide receiver. T.O. does have his issues, but trying to work things out with him and his teammates is probably the only real answer the Cowboys have right now. Trading Roy Williams is an option that the Cowboys have and that will help them get some draft picks. The hardest part is who is willing to take Roy Williams off your hands. Keeping T.O. is something the Cowboys will have to live with at least for now.

Dan Reeves Would Have Been A Positive Force

It is a shame that the Dallas Cowboys could not have worked something out with Dan Reeves as he would have been a great addition and something the Dallas Cowboys needed. According to various sources the only reason he did not take the job was a clause in his contract which required him to work a certain amount of hours. I cannot really blame Reeves on this one as a coach you really do not have set hours so putting that in for me was just plain crazy.

Reeves would have brought in some accountability to players and others in his consulting role and maybe some in Dallas really did not want him there. I guess this right here shows how really dysfunctional the Dallas Cowboys are right now and how much help they really do need.

What To Do With Terrell Owens?

The buzz around the Pro Bowl is what is Jerry Jones going to do with Terrell Owens. Will he keep him or just let him go and move on. Owens right now has some issues with teammates and just like every family there will be differences and that is where Terrell Owens and some of the Dallas Cowboys players are at. Most people are pointing the blame right at Terrell Owens, but I am not so sure that it is all him.

Sure T.O. can be moody and many players tell that he does not really associate with a lot of players or do things with his teammates. Now the bottom line is his teammates do not have to like him all they need to do is play with him. If you ask many players who played with Barry Bonds most will tell you they could not stand him, but that did not stop them from playing with him.

Jerry Jones is going to have to find some common ground between everybody so the team can move forward. next season you just cannot have players bickering and not getting along on the field. What they do in their spare time is their own business, but when Sunday hits they need to play as a team.

Bob Hayes Finally Gets His Spot

It has been a long time coming, but Bob Hayes finally has gotten his spot in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. Hayes deserved his spot a long time ago, but just like in any voting process you do not always get a fair shake. Hayes had some off the field issues after he retired and that in my mind had a lot to do with it taking so long to Bob Hayes in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame.

The Hall Of Fame is suppose to base your performance on the field and when Bob Hayes played their were few as good as him. Was he the greatest all around football player? No, but he changed the game in many different ways that we see today. The zone defense was design to stop Bob Hayes, but it could not as he was just to fast. People do not realize how fast Bob Hayes was and very seldom was he ever caught from behind.

Hayes deserved his spot in the Hall Of Fame a long time ago. let us hope that the Hall will start putting in many more Dallas Cowboys as I know of many7 deserving players that are just not their. Hopefully this will start a trend.
