Cowboys Let Go Of Bruce Read Special Teams Coach

The fallout from the Dallas Cowboys season has started as the Cowboys have told Special Teams coach Bruce Read that his services will no longer be needed. This is really not surprising considering that the Cowboys special teams had some critical breakdowns that cost them some games. I guess Jerry Jones needed to make some kind of a move and this was it.

It will be interesting to see if any other coaches are let go or if this was the only one the Cowboys decide to part ways with. In the end I am sure we will see more asked not to come back as you have to make some kind of move I guess.

Jerry Jones To Do List For 2009

With the New Year approaching and every Cowboy fan hoping that 2009's edition of the Dallas Cowboys is better than 2008. I have put together a list of things that Jerry Jones needs to do before the season starts.

1. Get Some Duct Tape- That way when players start running their mouths you can duct tape them and they will not look so foolish when they fall flat on their faces.

2. Get a backup quarterback for your team. Nothing against Brad Johnson, but if Tony Romo goes down again so does your season. You need to invest some money either in a proven veteran or draft a good quarterback. Either way you must really look at the quarterback problem you have.

3. Figure out what to do with Marion Barber. I really like him a lot, but you guys either use him too much or he is non-existent in the offense. Some consistency in using him would be fine. If you want to move him fine and make Felix Jones your every down back that is okay. Just make a decision on this.

4. Jerry can you get some cornerbacks that can cover a wide receiver. I think the Dallas Cowboys has some of the worse cover men in the NFL. Since they cannot cover you better make a defense coverage scheme change.

5. Sign Zach Thomas back as he still has some left in his tank. Hard to find a guy like him.

Okay Jerry that should keep you busy for awhile. When I think of some more I will tell you.

Tony Dorsett Real Dallas Cowboy

After watching the Dallas Cowboys struggle through a beatdown at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles it reminded me of what the Dallas Cowboys are lacking and that is the meaning of being able to where the star and be called a Dallas Cowboy. I have found this youtube video which was a tribute to Tony Dorsett who without the doubt was the greatest running back in Cowboys history.

What the video does not show though is the play where Dorsett got knocked down and got up and chased down a guy who intercepted a pass when everyone thought it would be a touchdown. This is the definition of a Dallas Cowboy and that is never quit or give up. The new look Cowboys just do not have the right now and unless they get a player to stand up we may never see that either.

Decided To Reflect Before Venting On The Dallas Cowboys

After being a fan for like 30 years I needed some time to reflect before I started venting on the Dallas Cowboys football team. Many things come to mind about the 44-6 drubbing that took place in Philadelphia, but in reality the Cowboys had it coming. This years team has never lived up to their expectations and that was evident in Philadelphia. Sure the Cowboys lost different players throughout the year, but other teams deal with that as well. Distractions were there as well with Terrell Owens and others being in the center of it also, but no excuse. That is the Dallas Cowboys and I am use to it. What I am not use to is this season where it looked like we were not competing.

Tom Landry got rest his soul always had his teams ready to compete and if they ever got blown away you can be sure the next game they were ready to play. Landry did not say much in public, but he got the job done behind closed doors. Now back to the future of the Dallas Cowboys and where they go from here. First of all players need to worry about themselves and not how much they are getting the ball. This is a team sport and you must play as a team. Pointing fingers is all well and good, but it does not change the outcome of the game you got your lunch handed to you.

Cowboy players would be better served to just flat out admit they need to do better from the coaching staff to every player on the team. Cowboy fans are sick at the way they played and have a right to be. The bottom line is they help pay the salaries that these players are getting and deserve better. Next year's team will benefit from this butt-whipping that the Eagles gave them and having Roy Williams for a full year also will help out a lot. The one thing though that needs to change and that is accountability for the play on the field. Until that changes and the finger pointing stops we could see another Texas meltdown in the future.

You Got To Be Kidding Me Jerry Jones 27-3 At Halftime

Well it looks like my prediction is going out the win that is for sure. The Dallas Cowboys are down 27-3 at halftime and they just started the third quarter. This is just pathetic to say the least. The Cowboys had 7 first downs in the first half and only 75 total yards with all the talent they have. Four penalties has not helped or the two turnovers. Let's see what they can do in the second half, but right now it looks grim for Cowboy fans.

Game Day Has Arrived For Cowboy Fans

Well the day has arrived for Dallas Cowboy fans to see if their Cowboys will be playing next week or will they be home watching everyone else play. It is time for my review of the game and points to watch for. First of all this is going to be a tough game to win in Philadelphia. Philadelphia has been playing well and beating them will be tough especially at home. One of the first things the Cowboys need to do is get Terrell Owens involved quickly and they must score of their first possession. This will help take the crowd out of the game which will be loud. Romo is suppose to play and the offensive line must protect him as he will see many blitzes.

On the defensive side of the ball the Cowboys must play smart. They cannot commit stupid penalties that give the Eagles extra chances if they hope to win this game. The bottom line is play sound smart defense and the Cowboys will be fine. The intangible that may come into play here is what Jerry Jones did on Friday by saying the coaches would be back. This helps the Cowboys better prepare for the game which is something that will help them.

I think the Cowboys will come and play a great game and I do like the Cowboys by a score of 38-31. As long as T.O. and Roy Williams get a lot of touches the Cowboys will be fine. Let's keep our fingers cross and hope the real Dallas Cowboys show up to play.

T.O Still Not Happy And I Can't Blame Him

I do not always agree with what comes out of Terrell Owens mouth all the time, but this time he is right. He needs to be more involved in the offense and he needs to get more touches. If you would break down his career you would find out that the more times that he had chances to make plays his team usually won the game. Now many people may not agree with this, but it is true.

Let's digress for a little history lesson back some years ago. Dallas Cowboys coaching legend Tom Landry had a team with many stars on it, but he knew what he had to do. When he had guys like Drew Pearson, Tony Dorsett, Roger Staubach, Tony Hill, and others all wanting the ball he looked around and realized one thing. Who gives me the best chance to win the game and we put it in that guy's hands. Tony Dorsett was that man. Back when Dorsett played and he rushed for over 100 yards in the game the Cowboys were very tough to beat. This is why Tom Landry made sure he seen the ball as many times as possible. Sure other players had to sacrifice, but that is part of winning.

Back to reality now as Terrell Owens needs the ball more and in my opinion so does Roy Williams. We should be starting both of them and Patrick Crayton and everyone else can fill in when needed. They will get their opportunity when the time is right, but for now you must put the ball in the playmakers hands and that is Owens and Williams. If the Cowboys do that they will be heading to the playoffs. If they keep doing what they are now they will be home watching.

Jerry Jones Making No Changes As Far As Coaches

Like him or hate him Jerry Jones is a man of his word and he came out today and made sure everyone understood and that is the Dallas Cowboys will not be making any coaching moves even if the Dallas Cowboys do not make the playoffs. Many people had thought if Wade Phillips did not make the playoffs he would be fired. Jerry Jones hand picked Wade Phillips and it does not surprise me that he will be coming back for another year.

If the Dallas Cowboys do not make the playoffs this season I look for Jones to make some changes and I think that will be in player personnel. By trading for Roy Williams they gave up a lot to get him so they are really limited in the draft, but he can still sign for some players or maybe even trade some of his players in a packaged deal. Either way I will be very surprise to see Jerry Jones keep the team just like this without trying to tweak it a little bit.

Getting Things Straighten Out In Big D

Many people have their opinions on what is wrong with the Dallas Cowboys from Wade Phillips to Terrell Owens, to Tony Romo and the list could go on and on. The bottom line is the Dallas Cowboys are where they are because of a collective effort just not one man or one coach on the team. There have been times when the Dallas Cowboys have played well on both sides of the ball, but that was early in the season. It always seems that either the offense or defense takes a week off and in the NFL you cannot do that.

Terrell Owens comments have been a distraction at times, but other players just need to step up and not worry about. This is a team that behind the scenes are pointing fingers at people instead of just going out and playing football. Marion Barber has not played as well this year. Terrell Owens has many dropped passes and Tony Romo has not protected the ball like he needs to. This is not to say they cannot turn it around, but their cannot be an I in team they must pull together as a unit.

They have Philadelphia this weekend and they still have a shot at the playoffs with a win, but they must play as one. If someone drops a ball or misses a coverage they must not point fingers, but come together as a team. If they do not they will be watching the games on television just like the Detroit Lions will be as well. It's all in their hands so I guess we will see how they play and if they really want this or is the I agenda's too much for them to overcome.

Will The Cowboys Get Out Of Their Tailspin?

Many people wonder what is going on with the Dallas Cowboys and why a team with this much talent is losing games. What many people do not understand is the NFL is a very tough business and everybody is good. Look at the San Diego Chargers who was also picked for greatness and they are also struggling as we speak. Losing Tony Romo was big on the Cowboys and they need to have him healthy if they want a chance of winning and making the playoffs.

One important step the Cowboys need to do is get back to basics and that means running the ball with Marion Barber and making sure Terrell Owens get enough touches. Roy Williams also needs to see his number called more as well. If the Cowboys want to win they must take one play at a time and make it the best possible. If they do this they will be fine.

Arizona Stops Dallas In Overtime 30-24

The Dallas Cowboys went to Arizona and ran into a team that was not going to roll over from the start. Both teams in the first half played like neither one really wanted to win the game and it showed as at halftime the score was tied 7-7. in the second half the Cowboys got it going on offense, but so did the Cardinals. Both teams moved the ball and after three quarters the score was tied 14-14. In the fourth quarter the Cardinals took a 24-14 lead and it did not look good for the Cowboys.

In the last two minutes of the fourth quarter the Cowboys scored 10 points and the game went into overtime where the Cowboys were punting and it got blocked and the Cardinals ran it in for a 30-24 win and some very disappointed Cowboy fans.

First of all the Dallas Cowboys deserved to lose when you play as sloppy as that. I will give the Cardinals some credit for a good win, but the bottom line is we could not protect Tony Romo and that really hurt us. It seem like we were just going through the emotions and that really hurt us. Yes the Dallas Cowboys are very talented, but you have to play and use it. Today we did not and that is the reason we lost. Were going to lose many more games unless we get our heads in the game from start to finish.

Tony Romo Shopping For Rings?

Rumors have it that Tono Romo and Jessica Simpson was out looking at rings and it was not of the Super Bowl variety. This is one thing that many people have worried about with Romo and that is his commitment to the team. When your in a football season many times you need to hold your personal life on hold. During the off-season is when you do this kind of shopping.

If the Dallas Cowboys again fail in the playoffs I am sure that this will be brought up. The bottom line is you can marry whoever you want, but when so many people expect you to do a great job on the field you must keep your head in the game. Many people wonder if Tony has his head in the game all the time. I guess only time will tell.

Tony Romo And T.O Are On The Same Page

National sportscasters are making much more of the comments of Terrell Owens then they really are. Yes, he does want the ball more and that is a good thing if you ask me. As far as a rift between him and Tony Romo there is none. Both players know they need each other if they want to be successful in Dallas and win a Super Bowl.

After a tough loss many times you will hear things like this as it is just part of the game and it will happen. The Dallas Cowboys will be fine as they play the Bengals this week. The Bengals did take the Giants to overtime so the Cowboys do need to focus on the task ahead and do not let anything get in the way of preparing for the Bengals or bad things could happen again.

T.O Tells Radio Show Comments Taken Out Of Context

The Terrell Owens saga continues as he tells a radio show he was not pointing the finger at anyone he was just saying he needs the ball so he can make more plays for the Cowboys. His quote was this: All I have said is I need more opportunities to help this team win. ... It's me being confident in who I am. It's not going to be the last time you hear me say I need the ball.

You really cannot fault T.O. for wanting the ball more. I guess if I had his talent I would be upset as well if I was not allowed to make plays. When T.O. is involved in the offense they do a lot better than when he is not. Keep him happy and the Cowboys do a lot better.

Drew Pearson One Of The Great Dallas Cowboy Receivers

Drew Pearson had many memorable catches as a Dallas Cowboy, but that is not what I remember him most for. He always showed up every week for work and never complained about anything not like today's ballplayers. If he caught ten passes that was okay, but if he got only one than he could live with that as well. The key for Drew was winning games in the team concept which Tom Landry would always preach. Terrell Owens Wants The Damn Ball

It seems Terrell Owens was not happy with the amount of touches he got last Sunday in the lost to the Washing Redskins and he is letting everyone know about it. This should not really come as much of a surprise to people as this is just how Terrell Owens rolls so you take it for what it is nothing really.

Most people get upset about it, but players just brush it aside as it is really not that big of a deal. Owens complains probably behind closed doors more than anyone that is just how he is and do not look for that to change anytime soon. If he did not complain something would be wrong.

Terrell Owens Missed Test Puts Him In A Special Group

The Dallas Cowboys and Terrell Owens call it just missed communications as owens has missed a randon drug test according to NFL officials. Owens missed the test becasue of communication problems and considers it a dead issue while others are not so sure.

Anytime something comes out people always look at the bad side and I am willing to give T.O. the benefit of the doubt as he has been very clean so I do believe his story it was just a missed test. NFL Officials have said they will be testing him more often so this does not happen again. I guess we will see if they do that though.

Now today I found out Owens will be put in a special program which is for people who has missed tests which he is not very happy about. He has said test me 10,000 times and you will see I am clean. I guess they might just do that T.O.

Tony And Jessica No Longer Together

Looks like the fairy tale romance has ended between Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson. Simpson wanted Tony to move to LA and Romo didn't want to. At least that is the reason being told for the breakup. Personally I don't believe that. I think that there is a lot more to it than either party is telling us.

Personally I think other things were involved and we will probably never really know the whole story so I guess we will just leave it at this they aren't together anymore. Somewhere or sometime I guess we will hear the whole story. For Cowboy fans though it's a big relief that's for sure.
